…I was born! May the birthday festivities continue! Today is my actual birthday (hooray!). And, as the grown up 28-year-old I have come to be, I did the very grown-up thing and took the day off. I figure I have flex days for a reason, and I rarely get sick, so I’d rather take a “health” day and enjoy myself. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect Colorado fall birthday!
The day began with a visit to the dog park, as usual. Just because it’s my birthday doesn’t mean I can deprive Ava of her daily ritual. She had a blast, which makes her mama happy.
After the DP (our code for “dog park”), I enjoyed my free beverage courtesy of Starbucks. While I disdain most corporate ventures, I have a soft spot in my heart for Starbucks. Perhaps it was the two years I spent working in the delightful green apron and the many benefits I received as a partner. Starbucks is a truly wonderful company…and they give out free drinks on your birthday! Who can say no to a free pumpkin spice latte?
The next stop was the Bartels Pumpkin Patch, a fall tradition for Ian and me. I love trekking through the muddy fields in search of the perfect pumpkin. We did pretty well this year and even made out with half a pound of roasted peppers! (Vegetarian chili coming soon.)
Ian and I spent the early afternoon hunting for treasure at our local Goodwill and ARC. I made out like a bandit and cannot wait to do a load of laundry so I can wear my fun finds!
Mid afternoon I enjoyed an hour-long massage from the local massage school (discount!) that left me feeling incredibly relaxed and rejuvenated for my two-day work week. 😉 The massage therapist recommended I come back in two weeks because I have so much tension in my shoulders…but they say that to everybody, right?! Not that I wouldn’t enjoy a massage every two weeks!
As if my day couldn’t get any better, my wonderful husband treated me to a lovely risotto dinner coupled with an Oregon chardonnay that was graciously gifted to us by Ian’s mom (it was delicious Lisa, thank you!). And, of course, no birthday is complete without a sweet treat: red velvet cupcake, yes please!
