One of the perks of being a teacher is getting a SNOW DAY!
The snow started falling around 8pm last night and continued all through the night. I was convinced we would have school, so I didn’t think twice when my alarm went off. I showered, had coffee and cereal with Ian, and packed a lunch. Ian was scraping off my car when I got a text message from a fellow teacher saying our district cancelled school for the day. I really do need to watch the news in the morning! I thought about going back to sleep, but having already showered and had coffee, and with the excitement of a paid day off, there was no way I was going to be able to sleep!
Much to Ian’s dismay, he still had school. Colleges rarely, if ever, close for snow. While Ian was in class, I decided to take Ava over the the dog park to play. She loves the snow and definitely had some energy to burn off!
Sadly, we were the only
fools ones there. She had fun nevertheless, but only wanted to stay for about 20 minutes.
I feel so bad for the trees! The snow is super heavy, and many of the trees in our area have severely broken branches. My friend Sarah called it a tree Apocalypse. So sad!
I spent an hour or so at Mugs enjoying a pumpkin spiced Americano and getting ahead on reading for the next piece of literature I’m teaching (Cyrano de Bergrac, if you’re interested!). After my little warm up, Ian and I headed over to a local park to take a few pictures. I planned to wear this outfit to work today, but I am more than happy to have worn it around the house. Dresses and warm tights are quite a cozy pairing for a snow day!
An unexpected snow day in the week provided such a wonderful break. I’m ending the day with a movie (Crazy.Stupid.Love) and a bottle of blended red wine, wrapped up in a cozy blanket with the one I love. Happy Wednesday!
