Summer Lovin’

Ahhhhh summer. It always goes by way too fast! The other day I realized that I will be back to work in just over three weeks, and I started to feel a little sad and panicky. But Ian reminded me that I still have three solid weeks until I go back, so I need not fret (not, yet anyway!).

We’ve been grinding away on the kitchen, but I’m not ready to post progress pictures just yet. We have a few more things to put up before I reveal the updates. Things are really starting to come along!

For now, enjoy a few pics from my summer thus far.

It’s been SUPER hot, and we only have one fan in the house (nope, no air conditioning). The animals and I have been desperately trying to find ways to stay cool. The wood floor seems to be a nice option…

Or outside, perched on the fence (only if there’s a slight breeze!)…

Or, Ava’s favorite spot, the hole she dug in the back yard. At least she’s putting the hole to good use. 😉 (See all the dead grass?! Play-loving dogs + Colorado dry heat does not = green grass.)

I much prefer relaxing in our hammock, shaded by our big oak tree (I think it’s an oak tree???).

IMG_0223We spent the 4th of July with my life-long friend Kelsey and her awesome family. Of course, the only picture I took was of the delicious food spread. Go figure.

Ian and I were pleased as punch to discover that we can see a local fireworks show from our backyard! Party at our house next 4th of July, that’s for sure!

Summer also means lots of good food and drinks! I try to make more of an effort to meet friends for drinks so we can enjoy outdoor patios, and each others company of course! I love trying new places and having new experiences, or forcing new things on other people. I encouraged forced my friend Kristin to try her first oyster. 🙂

Kelsey and my pseudo nephew Declan introduced me to lunch at Civic Center EATS, the food truck line-up in Civic Center Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays. How have I missed out on this all summer?! It’s amazing! And I will definitely be going back soon.

And last but not least, a sneak peak at a really cool item Ian and I scored last night. A local school is being demolished, and we were able to snag this row of lockers for free! Ian has been pining for retor lockers for so long – he was stocked! I’m excited to see how we can use them throughout our house.
